When an Idea Becomes Music
Guieldu brings together seven musicians — four men and three women — whose different musical backgrounds and influences converge around a shared creative vision. For them, tradition is the starting point for creating new music. Flutes, ocarinas, bouzouki, violin, electric bass, acoustic and electric guitars, drums and synthesizers combine to create a rich, expansive sound in which tradition and contemporary composition coexist naturally.
Most of Guieldu's repertoire consists of original compositions. Rooted in the musical traditions of the Celtic nations, their music is shaped by a particularly strong connection to Asturias and the north-west of the Iberian Peninsula — Galicia, León, Cantabria and Trás-os-Montes — while drawing constant inspiration from Brittany, Ireland and Scotland.
Rather than recreating traditional forms, Guieldu has forged its own musical identity. Their sound moves naturally between folk rock and prog folk, occasionally drawing on elements of funk and smooth jazz, all within a distinctive and recognisable musical language.
Within their compositions, the phrasing of a muñeira, the drive of a jig, Irish ornamentation and Breton musical structures are woven naturally into that musical language. The result is a conscious expression of musical intercelticism: a voice rooted in Asturias and open to the wider Celtic world.

This musical vision finds its clearest expression in Memories of Deva, the album through which Guieldu defines its artistic identity. Rather than simply a collection of tracks, the album unfolds as a coherent musical journey, with each composition contributing to a shared creative vision.
Across its fourteen tracks, the album journeys through landscapes, memories and emotions inspired by Asturias and the shared imagination of the Atlantic Celtic cultures. Memory, place and tradition provide the thread that connects each piece, shaping a coherent work in which composition, arrangement and production all speak with the same voice.

IIt is on stage that Guieldu's musical world truly comes alive. The band conceives every performance as a unique experience, shaped by the venue and the audience it reaches. For this reason, Guieldu has developed two complementary live formats: one designed for open-air festivals and another for theatres and concert halls.
At festivals, the band reveals its most energetic side. Driving rhythms, intensity and the power of the performance invite audiences to experience the music through movement and shared celebration, turning each show into a vibrant and participatory experience.
In theatres and concert halls, Guieldu explores a more intimate and emotional dimension. Close listening, carefully crafted atmospheres and the richness of musical detail reveal new perspectives within their compositions. In this setting, the band's ability to move audiences comes to the forefront, creating a soundscape that invites listeners to be carried away by the music.
